Poetry, pizza and pudding

Wednesday 11 March 2020

An evening that was entirely true to its name. We ate pizza and pudding, and folk brought along a favourite poem to read, or sat back and enjoyed hearing everyone else's choices. Suggested donation of £5, with all money going to The Carers Centre (SBC Charity of the Year).

World Day of Prayer

Friday 6 March 2020

We hosted a service on behalf of the local churches, using material prepared by the women of Zimbabwe, reflecting on their them of 'Rise up and walk!'

Fairtrade Chocolate Funfair

Sunday 1 March 2020

As part of Fairtrade Fortnight, we held a Fairtrade Chocolate Funfair after our morning service. There were chocolate themed games and quizzes with prizes to be won.

Messy Church

Christmas at SBC - 2019

Friday 20 December | from 4pm

Festive refreshments and the chance to get crafty, followed by some favourite carols and an improvised nativity.

This was a relaxed event, perfect for kids of all ages!

Sunday 22 December | 10:30am

Seasonal songs and readings chosen and presented by members of the congregation, with tea and coffee afterwards.

Wednesday 25 December | 10am

A short service to celerate Chrsitmas Day itself...or was it a birthday party?!

Messy Play

We started looking forward to Christmas, with some Advent themed crafts and a chance to make some decorations for a tree which was entered into the St Mary's Christmas Tree Festival.

Rutland Big Band Concert

The first session of our new weekly wellbeing cafe. 

Tea, cake, conversation and gentle activities to promote positive wellbeing. ​Inspired by the Renew Wellbeing movement.

Church Open Day

Saturday 14 September 2019

We opened our doors for the day as part of Ride + Stride and Heritage Open Days, and welcomed folk who just wanted to pop in for a while. Visitors were able to explore our beautiful building with a heritage trail, get crafty by making their own dream cloud, or simply relax with a cup of tea. 

 

We also shared some of our hopes for the future, and invited visitors to give us their ideas about how the church can best serve the community.

Busy Bees

Our annual holiday club for primary school aged children. We sang and danced and told stories. We made stars and arks and sheep masks. We skipped and baked and arranged flowers. We created bug houses and moulded our hands and took time to be mindful. And that wasn't even all of it...
