Sunday Worship 22 September | Harvest 2024

This morning was our Harvest service, and it was a busy one! Let's try and recap...

- We sang some classic Harvest hymns, and a new twist on an old favourite

- We made models of things we are grateful for in creation and added them to our Harvest display

- We collected food for Leicester South Foodbank

- We tested our knowledge of Bangladesh with a quiz, and learnt about the work BMS are doing to bring help and hope in Bangladesh

- We took up an offering for the BMS Harvest Appeal supporting outreach workers in Bangladesh

- We heard a reflection on the parable of the wheat and the weeds from Rev Barnabas Hembron of Bangladesh Baptist Church, encouraging us to give time and love and attention to the kingdom of God

- We thought about the importance of Fairtrade, particularly as there are unfair trade practices happening in factories in our city

- We made pledges to help Be the Change by supporting and promoting Fairtrade

- We prayed about everything

And that was just the service! We followed it with a chance to meet some newly hatched chicks and a Fairtrade Bake Off, accompanied as always by Fairtrade tea and coffee.

If you weren't able to join us, don't worry because there are still chances to get involved. You can learn more about the BMS Harvest Appeal, including details of how to donate directly to BMS. And you can discover how to call your MP to take Fairtrade's Be the Change pledge if they haven't already.

Our Harvest display, mostly from a church member's allotment, with foodbank donations.
